What is the Future Fund Program?
The BRAG Future Fund is a dedciated building fund for committed benefactors, offering the opportunity to make a significant contrbution to both the history and legacy of the gallery and the city of Bathurst! Your engagement will see the Gallery through to its most significant chapter to date as it embarks on the journey of planning, funding and building its new state of the art facility.
Why the Future Fund Program?
Bathurst Regional Art Gallery is the second oldest regional gallery in NSW. Its building was the first purpose built facility in the state in 1990. Now, well into the 21st century the needs of our gallery are changing. The building requires a future vision and facility to respond to the growing needs of its award winning artistic program and public and education programming into the future, as well as display its impressive contemporary art collection established almost 70 years ago.
Since the collection’s inception in 1955 and its relocation in the early nineties to its current premises at Keppel Street, this development will mark the most signficant undertaking in the gallery’s history, maintaining its legacy and making its mark on the city and region well into the future. A new facility represents a future looking, resilient, and visionary outlook and impact for both culture and commerce as well as the capacity to continue to present the award winning program the gallery is known and reputed for and to build vital, functional and impressive gallery spaces for one of the state’s oldest and most valuable regional contemporary art collections.
Next Steps
BRAG has secured funding to engage consultants in mounting the business case to establish the plan and pathway towards a new build. The business case for the new build addressing current and future critical needs of the gallery to support future government funding applications will get underway in 2024.
